Did You Know? O.A.R. – The Band Behind the Revolution
O.A.R., which stands for "Of A Revolution"(There is a word that comes before "of" that the band has never revealed.), is an American rock band known for its unique blend of rock, reggae, and jam-band styles. Founded in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland, O.A.R. has made a name for itself through energetic live performances and a strong connection with their fan base.
The band's original members—Marc Roberge (vocals/guitar), Chris Culos (drums), Richard On (guitar), and Benj Gershman (bass)—all grew up together in Rockville and attended Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School. After graduation, they headed to Ohio State University, where they met the final piece of their puzzle: Jerry DePizzo, a saxophonist and guitarist from Youngstown, Ohio. The core lineup is occasionally joined by touring members like trumpet player Jon Lampley and keyboardist Mikel Paris, adding even more layers to their already dynamic performances.
The band is famous for its extensive summer tours, with live shows that bring their music to life in new and exciting ways each night. Attendees of the upcoming Oceans Calling Festival, September 27-29 2024, will see the band right on the beach here in Ocean City, MD.
